Areni Analysis: How to Build an Outsized Wine Reputation From Scratch
In a crowded world, where everybody is vying for attention, how can wines stand out and become known? We asked some of the most knowledgeable people in wine for their thoughts.
In October 2023, Areni Global gathered a group together around a digital roundtable to discuss the question of how reputation is built.
Everyone who joined that discussion already had an outsized reputation of their own, so it seemed almost impudent to ask them to break down the steps that had helped them build a reputation from scratch. Also, surely the answer was obvious: just be very good at what you do.
As it turned out, the participants had plenty of insights to share.
Included in the discussion were renowned wine producers from France and the USA; communications professionals from major fine wine companies; the editor of a well-known fine wine magazine; and sommeliers and wine directors.
The discussion was, as always, held under the Chatham House Rule, so nothing that was said has been attributed.
