Exploring Hegarty’s 10 Rules for Creativity
Tap into the genius of one of the great creative minds of advertising.
Sir John Hegarty is acknowledged as one of the giants of advertising. From a working class background, he studied graphic design at the London College of Printing (as it was then called) where he discovered the power of creativity.
“I loved having a blank page and coming up with an idea,” he says.
Over the course of an astonishing career, he created iconic advertising campaigns for brands as different as Johnny Walker, Audi, Levi’s and XBox. Sir John has been rewarded with numerous awards, including the Cannes Lions Advertising Festival Lifetime Achievement Award and he was knighted in 2013.
Now he offers an eight-part course in creativity aimed at business leaders. He’s also created 10 Rules for Creativity, reprinted below and fleshed out with some of his observations.
