Laurent Delaunay

Président, Badet Clement, France

Laurent is the 5th generation of a family of Burgundy producers, originating from Nuits-St-Georges.

After studying viticulture and winemaking, he worked for a year in Napa, California and then completed his studies with a post graduate degree in business administration and marketing at ESSEC.

In 1995, with his wife Catherine, a winemaker too, they founded Badet Clément with the goal of producing consumer led premium wines in the South of France. Their Les Jamelles brand, now one of the leading names in the Pays d’Oc, is exported in 55 countries. They own several wineries and vineyards (150 ha) in Burgundy, Beaujolais, Rhône, Provence and Languedoc.

As a winemaker, Laurent personally oversees their Domaine de la Métairie d’Alon, a beautiful altitude vineyard located near Limoux, in the foothills of the Pyrenees, where he is convinced Pinot Noir can give some of its best results.

Laurent is also involved as a board member in several trade organizations such as BIVB (Bureau Interprofessionnel des Vins de Bourgogne) and Anivin de France.
