Hugh Johnson OBE
Historian and Writer, UK
Hugh Johnson has written a series of ground-breaking books on wine, from Wine in 1966 to the forthcoming 8th edition of his World Atlas of Wine (which he now shares with Jancis Robinson). They include encyclopaedias, a history of wine, a guide to wine science (with James Halliday), books of essays and 42 annual Pocket Wine Books.
In the intervals he has written books (also ground-breaking) on gardening and trees, and regularly updates his long-running blog on these subjects, Trad’s Diary.com. He lives in London with his wife, Judy, and gardens wherever his family and friends will let him.
