There’s been plenty of chatter around blockchain in the fine wine community over the past decade, because the technology holds out the promise of protecting fine wine from fraud. But what about other digital assets like non-fungible tokens (NFTs) or cryptocurrencies?

This July, South Africa’s Jono Le Feuvre sat down with experts at ARENI Live – Stellenbosch to thrash out the issues. Joining him on stage were Mike Tango Bravo from Costaflores Organic Vineyard in Mendoza, Argentina, which he describes as the ‘world’s first open-source vineyard’, selling wine through its own crypto asset.

Wine writer Jane Anson joined the panel via Zoom from Bordeaux, to discuss why she re-released one of her classic books as an NFT.

And investor Rodrigo Sepúlveda Schulz, president of Sepulveda Capital, was on hand to provide the sceptical point of view.
